Seil Road Bridge Now Closed For 17 Months: Village Of Shorewood Reveals Key Project Details

Once completed, the new bridge will provide safer and more efficient travel for the Shorewood community for many years to come.

SHOREWOOD, IL — The Seil Road Bridge will be closed beginning March 23, as part of a major $9 million IDOT project to replace the aging structure.

The bridge is expected to remain closed through June of 2027 while construction is completed.

The replacement of the Seil Road Bridge is a necessary improvement designed to enhance long-term safety, structural integrity, and reliability for motorists, pedestrians, and emergency services traveling through the area.

During the construction period, Seil Road will be fully closed at the project location, and motorists will need to follow posted detours. The full closure will include Seil Road between Raven Road and River Bluff Drive, including the bridge and Seil Road-Raven Road Intersection.
