The Timbers Names New Activities Director

Shelly Goggins of Channahon has joined The Timbers of Shorewood as director of activities.

The Timbers is located at 1100 North River Road in Shorewood.

Goggins replaces Judy Malin, who retired opn Dec. 31 after more than six years with The Timbers.

Goggins oversees event planning, contact with health care professionals, party planning, outings, and budgets. She supervises all activity assistants and procures volunteers for events.

“It’s been a joy getting to know this wonderful community,” Goggins said. “I am eager to put my personal stamp on the department, and I look forward to many happy and rewarding times with the residents.”

Prior to joining The Timbers, Goggins served on the board of directors for a campground and served for four years as a hearing officer for the Village of Channahon.

Goggins earned a bachelor of arts degree in therapeutic recreation from the University of St. Francis in Joliet. She interned in the behavioral health service department with a focus on dementia and Alzheimer’s disease at Silver Cross Hospital.

The Timbers of Shorewood is a rental retirement community that provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services.
