Armed Robber Stabs Victim From Behind; Hotel Staffer Cut: Blotter
Arrests for DUI, drug dealing and theft on the Skokie Police Blotter from Oct. 2 - Oct. 8.

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested and of incidents reported to the police. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Readers are reminded that everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt, and criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
INCIDENTS
INDECENCY
Around 6:15 p.m. on Sept. 30, the driver of a newer black sedan, described as a 30-year-old white man with short black hair, stopped a minor for directions in the 8200 block of Kostner Avenue. During the encounter, the child noticed the motorist was not wearing any pants and was manipulating his genitalia.

AGGRAVATED BATTERY
Around 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 1, staff at the Extended Stay Hotel at 5211 Old Orchard Road reported that they had suffered a cut on the arm while trying to break up a fight between guests. Medical attention was not needed and no charges were filed.
GARAGE BURGLARY
A resident in the 9600 block of Woods Drive reported on Oct. 2 that someone stole three bicycles from a garage between July 1 and Sept. 20.

BURGLARY
A resident in the 8100 block of McCormick Boulevard reported on Oct. 2 that a burglary had taken place between Aug. 23 and Sept. 6.
GAS BILL SCAM
A resident in the 4900 block of Brummel Street reported on Oct. 3 that someone had contacted them claiming their Nicor bill was unpaid and convinced them to purchase $1,330 worth of gift cards to pay for the supposed debt.
COUNTERFEIT PRESCRIPTION
Around 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 3, someone tried to pass a fraudulent perscription form at a pharmacy in the 3900 block of Dempster Street.
BATTERY
A battery reportedly occurred around 9 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the 4900 block of Hull Street.
'SECRETS' SCAM
A Keeler Avenue resident reported on Oct. 6 that they had received an email threatening to public personal information unless a Bitcoin payment was provided. There was no loss, although an email address may have been compromised.
FELONY THEFT
Around 9 a.m. on Oct. 6, someone stole 20 steel pipe bollards from a construction site in the 3600 block of Howard Street.
ARMED ROBBERY
Around 10:40 a.m. on Oct. 7, a resident was walking in an alley in the area of the 8900 block of Lacrosse Avenue when they were approached by an unidentified person who stabbed him with some sharp object. The resident reported hearing a male voice behind him demand his wallet and cell phone before he stopped walking and felt someone cut him on his leg from behind, although he was unable to get a good look at the attacker or the knife. The resident's cellphone was reported stolen.

ARRESTS
Moises Barajas, 21, of the 4700 block of Main Street in Skokie, was arrested at 3:22 p.m. on Oct. 1 in the 8400 block of Kilpatrick Avenue and charged with driving without a valid license and possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
Derrick D. Scott, 40, of the 9100 block of Lawler Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 5:20 p.m. on Oct. 2 in the 8400 block of McCormick Boulevard and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license and leaving the scene of a property damage accident following a report of a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Skokie Boulevard and Dempster Street a few minutes earlier.
Jose R. Arriaga, 23, of the 2700 block of North Ridgeway Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 6:36 p.m. on Oct. 2 in the 3600 block of Jarvis Avenue and charged with possession of over 100 grams of cannabis and delivery of more than 30 grams of cannabis, both felonies.
Joseph Bereliana, 19, of the 9300 block of Keystone Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 2 at a furniture store in the 4800 block of Golf Road and charged with possession of between 10 and 100 grams of cannabis, a misdemeanor.
Felicia M. Johnson, 42, of the 3800 block of North Pine Grove Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 3 a.m. on Oct. 3 in the 9000 block of Skokie Boulevard and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or above.
Tray L. Gardner, 25, of the 7700 block of South Trumbull Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 9:40 a.m. on Oct. 3 in the 1000 block of 76th Avenue in Chicago and charged with identity theft.
Franklin C. Boyd, 18, of the 5800 block of West Division Street in Chicago, was arrested at 3:53 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the 3700 block of Howard Street and charged with criminal trespassing to vehicle in connection with an incident about 30 minutes earlier in the 3800 block of Kirk Street.
Marco Rios, 20, of the 2400 block of West Fargo Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 10:17 p.m. on Oct. 3 in the 3500 block of Touhy Avenue and charged with disorderly conduct and illegal consumption of alcohol.
Katherine E. Anderson, 34, of the 1400 block of Somerset Avenue in Deerfield, was arrested at 11 p.m. on Oct. 3 at the Old Orchard Chic-Fil-A and charged with retail theft and two counts of resisting or obstructing police.
David J. Miller, 22, of the 8100 block of Keating Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 10:15 p.m. on Oct. 4 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with delivery of more than 30 grams of cannabis, a felony.
Thomas A. Libera, 76, of the 5600 block of North Fairfield Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 1:17 a.m. on Oct. 5 in the 8000 block of Crawford Avenue and charged with DUI and driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or above.
Geoffrey A. Woods, 25, of the 3800 block of North Greenview Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 3 p.m. on Oct. 5 at a hotel in the 5200 block of Old Orchard Road and charged with theft of more than $500.
Anthony J. Aguirre, 29, of the 7500 block of North Greenview Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 5 and charged with retail theft at the Walmart, 3626 W. Touhy Ave.
David Chavez, 23, of the 6300 block of North Clark Street in Chicago, was arrested at 1:45 a.m. on Oct. 7 in the 5700 block of Oakton Street and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and DUI with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or above.
Cortney Mitchell, 22, of the 1200 block of South Tripp Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 12:05 p.m. on Oct. 7 at a gym in the 5300 block of Old Orchard Road and charged with retail theft and disorderly conduct.
Lavonte D. Walton, 20, of the 800 block of North Ridgeway Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 1:31 p.m. on Oct. 7 at a gym in the 5300 block of Old Orchard Road and charged with retail theft.
