More Than 10 Car Break-Ins Reported: Skokie Crime Reports
Skokie Police Blotter: March 16 - March 23

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested and of incidents reported to the police. Readers are reminded an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations that are often dropped or reduced.
INCIDENTS
DISORDERLY CONDUCT
A man came into the the Apple Store at Old Orchard Shopping Center around 2:30 p.m. on March 16 and asked about fixing his phone. When he was told the potential cost, he became upset. He slammed his phone down and began to yell "I'm going to terrorize the store and smash out the windows."

THREAT
Someone threatened to shoot a woman in the 9200 block of Kedvale Avenue but did not display a weapon around 3:30 p.m. on March 16.
ELECTRONIC HARASSMENT
Someone posted multiple fraudulent Craigslist advertisments using the phone number of a resident of Laramie Avenue so they received "constant phone calls and texts" from various unknown people.

HIT AND RUN
A gold vehicle fled the scene of a traffic crash near at the intersection of Niles Center Road and Touhy Avenue around 8:41 p.m. on March 20.
STOLEN MIRROR
Someone stole the side mirror off of a vehicle parked in a lot at the Old Orchard Shopping Center between 6 and 9:15 p.m. on March 20.
CAR BURGLARIES REPORTED MARCH 21
On March 21, about a dozen cars were reportedly entered by one or more burglars and one homeowner reported capturing an image of a man on security cameras trying to open up multiple locked vehicles on the block. The car break-ins were reported on:
- The 5100 block of Greenleaf Street
- The 5100 block of Crain Street,
- The 5000 and 5100 blocks of Carol Street
- The 5200 block of Wright Terrace
- The 5300 block of Conrad Street
- The 8600 block of St. Louis Avenue
AGGRAVATED IDENTITY THEFT
A resident of the 4600 block of Davis Street reported on March 21 that someone had used their personal information to make a bank card purchase around 10 a.m. on March 16.
THEFT
Some "known offenders" reportedly stole less than $500 of undisclosed property from the 8200 block of Kilpatrick Avenue shortly before midnight on March 22.
ARRESTS
Maite L. Solis, 20, of the 7500 block of North Claremont Avenue, Chicago, and Susana Baca, 19, of the 6400 block of North Oakley Avenue, Chicago, were both arrested at the Walmart in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue shortly before 1 a.m. on March 16 and charged with retail theft.
Nathan Palmer, 18, of the 9100 block of Lawler Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 10:05 a.m. on March 16 at his home and charged with theft of under $500.
Sarah Jin Yoo, 30, of the 3400 block of Lake Knoll Drive in Northbrook, was arrested at 5:34 p.m. on March 17 at Old Orchard Shopping Center and charged with retail theft after she reportedly concealed multiple cosmetic items in her pockets and purse and left the store.
Alvin B. Binder, 63, of the 4700 block of Church Street in Skokie, was arrested at 8:24 p.m. on March 17 at his home on an in-state warrant and also charged with resisting arrest.
A 34-year-old Skokie man who was arrested in connection with a reportedly BB-gun-armed robbery of Oxycontin from a Walgreen's last year was arrested at 12:26 a.m. on March 17 in the 8500 block of Skokie Boulevard and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.
A 46-year-old Chicago woman was arrested at 12:05 a.m. on March 18 in the 8600 block of McCormick Boulevard and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Joshua Gabriel Sanchez, 27, of the 4000 block of Franklin Street in Zion, was arreated at 1:06 a.m. on March 18 in the 4800 block of Dempster Street on three in-state warrants and also charged with driving with a suspended license.
Jesus Vargas, 20, of the 2200 block of Melvina Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 2:45 a.m. on March 18 in the 4700 block of Cleveland Street and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Sebastian Oko, 36, of the 9000 block of West Terrace Drive in Niles, was arrested at 12:46 a.m. on March 18 in the 5000 block of Crain Street and accused of burglarizing a vehicle.
Clara L. Arroyo-Burgos, 40, of the 1700 block of East Grand Avenue in Lindenhurst, was arrested at 6:13 p.m. on March 18 at the Old Orchard Shopping Center and charged with retail theft from a Macy's store.
A 25-year-old Chicago woman was arrested at 8 a.m. on March 19 in the 4300 block of Oakton Street and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.
A 20-year-old Skokie man was arrested at 11:42 p.m. on March 20 in the 400 block of Oakton Street and charged with driving without a valid license.
A 45-year-old Chicago woman was arrested at 10:50 p.m. on March 21 in the 7100 block of Laramie Avenue and charged with driving without a valid license.
Jesus T. Rodriguez, 30, of the 4500 block of Kilbourn Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 4 a.m. on March 22 in the 7200 block of Niles Center Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 and without a driver's license.
A 31-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 9:19 a.m. on March 22 in the 8700 block of McCormick Boulevard and charged with driving without a valid license.
Tyler J. Schmidt, 24, of the 7600 block of Lincoln Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 10:23 p.m. on March 22 in the 7500 block of Central Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of drugs.
Frederick M. Choute, 27, of the 8300 block of Knox Avenue in Skokie, was arrested at 8:49 a.m. on March 23 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with battery.
A 41-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 4:17 p.m. on March 21 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.
An 81-year-old Hampshire man was arrested at 7:04 p.m. on March 21 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.
