Employee's Embezzlement Discovered; Hotel Trespass: Skokie Crimes

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested and of incidents reported to the police. Readers are reminded an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations that are often dropped or reduced.

A battery and retail theft reportedly occurred at Old Orchard Shopping Center between 11:11 a.m. and 11:25 a.m. on Feb. 9.

THEFT/DISORDERLY CONDUCT

The same person committed a theft of less than $500 and a disorderly conduct at the Chick-Fil-A in the 9300 block of Skokie Boulevard between 10:30 a.m. and 11:46 a.m.

THEFT

More than $500 in business funds were embezzled by an employee of a designer clothing store in the 9400 block of Skokie Boulevard on Dec. 11, 2017, police were told on the morning of Feb. 10.

CAR BURGLARY/IDENTITY THEFT

Someone entered an unlocked car in the 9500 block of Central Park Avenue between 10 p.m. on Feb. 10 and 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 11 and stole a credit card. That card was later used in various locations.

BOMB THREAT

Someone made a bomb threat to Niles North High School shortly after 2 p.m. on Feb. 12.

ARRESTS

Tika Hasaan Khan, 29, of the 6300 block of Richmond Street, Chicago, was arrested at 12:15 a.m. on Feb. 9 in the 8300 block of Gross Point Road on an in-state warrant and also charged with obstructing identification.

Emiliano M. Frani, 56, of the 5300 block of Grove Street, Skokie, was arrested at 5:33 p.m. on Feb. 9 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with disorderly conduct.

A 20-year-old Niles man was arrested at 5:05 p.m. on Feb. 10 in the 4700 block of Dempster Street and charged with driving on a suspended or revoked license.

A 52-year-old Bellwood man was arrested at 7:52 p.m. on Feb. 10 in the 8400 block of McCormick Boulevard and charged with driving on a suspended or revoked license and driving with a suspended registration.

Robert C. Cebula, 24, of the 1000 block of Queens Lane, Glenview, was arrested shortly after 10 p.m. on Feb. 10 at the Hampton Inn Suites and charged with criminal trespassing, possession of between 10 and 100 grams of cannabis and possession of drug equipment.

Samantha H. Merrill, 22, of the 200 block of South Marion Street, Oak Park, was arrested at 10:10 p.m. on Feb. 10 as part of the same incident at the Hampton Inn Suites and charged with criminal trespassing and issued citations for possession of cannabis and drug paraphernalia.

Elma Kurtovic, 31, of the 6700 block of North Damen Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at the Walmart in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue and charged with retail theft.

Harriet Goldstein, 68, of the 8900 block of Lavergne Avenue, Skokie, was arrested at 8:14 a.m. on Feb. 12 at her home on an in-state warrant.

Maad M. Fathi, 23, of the 3200 block of West Olive Avenue, Chicago, was arrested at 4:45 p.m. on Feb. 12 in the 7400 block of McCormick Boulevard and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

A juvenile resident of University Park was arrested and charged custody in connection with an armed carjacking in the 8000 block of Keating Avenue around 6:50 p.m. on Feb. 11.

Eran Curtis Layne, 28, of the 1900 block of Jackson Avenue in Evanston, was arrested at 12:26 a.m. on Feb. 13 in the 4700 block of Dempster Street and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.8 and other traffic offenses.

A 21-year-old Evanston man was arrested at 11:38 p.m. on Feb. 13 in the 3300 block of Howard Street and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.

Badruddin T. Lalani, 57, of the 200 block of Greenfield Drive, Glenview, was arrested at 10:06 a.m. on Feb. 14 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with hit and run.

Ryan A. Funk, 22, of the 100 block of East Forest Lane, Palatine, was arrested at 4:17 p.m. on Feb. 14 at Skokie Hospital and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

A 29-year-old Chicago man was arrested shortly after 7 p.m. on Feb. 14 in the 4800 block of Washington Street and charged with driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Adam J. Carter, 41, of the 5200 block of Old Orchard Road, was arrested shortly after 8 p.m. on Feb. 14 at his home and charged with possession of between 10 and 100 grams of cannabis and possession of drug equipment.

A 22-year-old Addison man was arrested shortly before midnight on Feb. 14 and charged with driving without a license.

Vanessa N. Rodriguez, 18, of the 8800 block of Ewing Avenue, Skokie, was arrested at 8:48 a.m. on Feb. 15 at her home and charged with assault.

A 43-year-old Burbank man was arrested at 4:17 p.m. on Feb. 15 in the 5400 block of Touhy Avenue and charged with driving on a suspended or revoked license.

Terrell Williams, 29, of the 8900 block of South Morgan Street, was arrested at 8:23 p.m. on Feb. 15 in the 9500 block of Devon Avenue on an in-state warrant.

Young Sook Seo, 26, of the 300 block of Alexia Court, Wheeling, was arrested at 9:30 p.m. on Feb. 15 at Old Orchard Shopping Center and charged with retail theft.

Armando Soto, 51, of the 3200 block of North Whipple Street, Chicago, was arrested at 11:23 p.m. on Feb. 15 at the Walmart in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue and charged with retail theft.

A 53-year-old Skokie man was arrested at 10:45 a.m. on Feb. 16 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with driving on a suspended or revoked license.
