Flashback Weekend Is Coming!

Flashback Weekend Chicago Horror Con is celebrating its 15th anniversary with another great event running from Friday, August 4 through Sunday, August 6. It is one of the longest running such conventions in the country and also one of the best.

I have been going to Flashback Weekend from the beginning and I have met so many great celebrities. This year promises to be another fantastic event.

Dana DeLorenzo is appearing. I absolutely love Dana and would go to Flashback Weekend even if she was the only celebrity guest. Obviously, Dana will be joined by many others.

Dana will be joined by her Ash Bs. Evil Dead costar Ray Santiago, in a mini-reunion. This is a really cool opportunity to meet both of them.

Speaking of reunions, there is a unique reunion from the Friday the 13th franchise. Ted White, Ken Kirzinger, Steve Dash, Tom Morga and C.J. Graham will be there. Better yet, they are offering a photo op featuring these 5 actors who have played Jason. Imagine yourself surrounded by 5 Jasons!

Another mini-reunion features Brad and Fiona Dourif from the Child's Play franchise. They will be joined by Chucky costars Christine Elise and Alex Vincent. I love the Child's Play movies and really want to meet all of these actors. Director Tom Holland will be there, too!

I am also excited about Amanda Bearse. While most people know Amanda from Married With Children and her movies, I've been a fan since her days on tv's All My Children.

The celebrity list continues with William Ragsdale, Stephen Geoffreys, Steve Johnson, Jonathan Stark, Cerina Vincent, Michael Berryman, Paul T. Taylor, Lynn Lowry and John Russo. Each has made several excellent contributions to the horror field.

On the local front, Svengoolie will be appearing on Saturday. Sven is a true legend (and a great guy). Despite being at Flashback many times, Sven will always draw a big line. That speaks volumes of his continued popularity.

John LaFlamboy and Chad Savage will be there, too. They well-known in the horror field, especially in the Chicago area.

I mainly go for the celebrity guests, but there are a bunch of other cool events. On Friday night, there is a special outdoor screening of Child's Play. On Saturday, Fright Night will be shown. Watching these classic horror flicks on a giant outdoor screen is very cool.
On Saturday afternoon, there is the 13th Annual Sinister Visions Costume Contest hosted by Sven. This is a ton of fun, whether you are in the contest or just a spectator. Some costumes are incredibly realistic, while others are just much simpler, but still effective.

There will also be several Discussion and Q&A panels. This is a chance to hear interesting stories from the actors, as well as asking them questions.

There is still more though. The rooms will be filled with talented creators who are selling their various books, artwork and other awesome stuff. I am always fascinated by just seeing these beautiful masterpieces. I am sure to walk away with a few purchases to add to my collection.

One last cool part is seeing all of my friends. I have met a lot of friends at Flashback and I enjoy reconnecting with them. I also have brought several of my friends to Flashback for their first time and they all return. It's always more fun to share the fun with friends.

Flashback Weekend is being held at the Crowne Plaza in Rosemont. It’s a great venue and there are a lot of great restaurant options nearby. Many of my longer-distance friends are staying in Rosemont all weekend and if I didn't live so close, I'd stay there, too!
