Skokie Police Adds 6 To Force

New hires get department close to full staff.

The village of Skokie took a big step in fulfilling its promise to restore its police force to 122 uniformed officers this week when six new ones were sworn in.

New to the department are Mark Yu, Matthew Orchard, Gianluca Pellegrino, Nicholas Panico, Era Hozner and Rogelio Cantu Jr.

“We’re very proud of the Skokie Police Department,” said Mayor George Van Dusen during the ceremony at a Skokie Village Board meeting. “Truly, it’s one of the premiere departments in the United States. You would expect me to say that, but it isn’t just me.”
