Skokie Woman Killed After Crashing Car Into Tree

WILMETTE, IL - The woman who lost consciousness and crashed her car into a tree Saturday afternoon in Wilmette has been identified as an 81-year-old Skokie resident.

Police say Ruth Bresler, who lived in the 9600 block of North Tripp, was westbound on Lake Avenue near Laramie around 2:30 p.m. and lost consciousness. Her car veered into the eastbound lanes before smashing into a tree.

Lake Avenue was closed for hours in the area while the accident was investigated.

No other injuries were reported.
