Chicago police say a man shot a woman and himself Monday night near 78th and Bennett.

CHICAGO - Two people were shot to death in what police believe to be a murder-suicide that occurred Monday night in the South Shore neighborhood. A 27-year-old man was found dead in the 7800 block of South Bennett Avenue and a 25-year-old woman taken to University of Chicago Hospital around 8:15 p.m., according to Chicago police. The woman later died at the hospital.
The woman was shot in the chest and the man sustained a self-inflicted shot to the head, police said. An initial report indicates the two were seen arguing in a car when the man went outside and shot the woman, who was driving. He then shot himself in the head, according to the report.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the male victim as Derell D. Sikes, who had a listed address in the same block in which the incident took place. The female victim wasn't identified as of Tuesday morning.
