4 Charged After Cops Attacked, Locked Inside Englewood Home
One police officer was hit by a 2x4 and another spit on and locked in a home during an attack at 70th and Throop Monday.

CHICAGO — A team of Chicago police officers who work in the Englewood neighborhood are being lauded for how they handled a dangerous situation that unfolded Monday afternoon near 70th and Throop. Chicago Police Department Public Information Officer Anthony Guglielmi says the group of officers "demonstrated incredible professionalism and restraint" after one was struck by a 2x4 and others locked inside a home and beaten up.
Police on Tuesday announced felony charges against four people allegedly involved. Senneca Traylor, 19; Janice Lewis, 20 and Robert Williams, 28, all of Englewood, were charged initially.
Traylor was charged with four counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer and two counts of resisting/obstructing a peace officer. Lewis with one count of aggravated battery to a peace officer and Williams with two counts of unlawful restraint and another count of resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

It was later announced that Tashawn Booker was also charged with two counts of unlawful restraint in connection to the incident.
The alleged confrontation arose, according to a WGN report, when Lewis saw a team of three police officers on-duty, called them murderers and shouted profanity at them. She is then alleged to have spit on one of them, which prompted them to get out of the car and try to arrest her.

But instead, the media report indicates Traylor is the one suspected of throwing the 2x4 at one of the officers and hitting him in the back of the head with it. He then fled to a nearby home, where video posted to social media shows police force their way inside. The confrontation continues there, where the video shows multiple police officers held against their will. Viewer discretion for the video below is advised.
All three officers were hospitalized but have since been released.
The suspects are scheduled to appear in bond court at 26th and California on Wednesday.
