CHICAGO — An armored truck guard was shot Tuesday afternoon during an attempted armed robbery in East Chatham, and the FBI is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects or provide information about the crime.

Around 3:15 p.m., the FBI responded to an aggravated attempted robbery of an armored car at Wendy’s, 8740 S. Lafayette. The guard was leaving the restaurant after finishing his business. A gold or dark gray vehicle pulled up next to the guard and truck.

Three people exited the vehicle and opened fire on the guard, the FBI said. The guard was shot one time and taken to a nearby hospital, where he is expected to make a full recovery.
