Hammer Attack Leads To Murder Charge For Brighton Park Man

Chicago police say Julio Hernandez beat a 40-year-old man to death at a home in Brighton Park.

CHICAGO, IL - A Brighton Park man is facing a first degree murder charge after police say he admitted to beating a man to death with a hammer. Julio Hernandez is accused of striking a 40-year-old man multiple times inside a home in the 3100 block of West 40th Street at 12:55 a.m. on Monday. Hernandez' listed address is in the same block as the alleged incident.

The victim of the attack was not immediately named pending the notification of next of kin.

Hernandez appeared in Central Bond Court on Wednesday, but was held without bail according to a Fox-Chicago report. His next scheduled appearance is set for July 9.
