A 43-year-old man was shot and killed as he confronted four intruders who came into a home at 97th and Harvard Thursday morning.

CHICAGO, IL - A man was shot and killed during a home invasion on Chicago's South Side early Thursday morning. Chicago police said the victim, a 43-year-old man, was confronted by four men who entered a home in the 9700 block of South Harvard Avenue at 3:48 a.m. in an altercation that turned deadly.
One of the intruders fired multiple shots and struck the victim in the chest and back during a physical struggle, according to police. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced deceased. The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office has identified the man as Demetrius Jones.
Police say the men gained entry to the home, located in the Longwood Manor neighborhood of the city, through a side window. The home is the place of residence for a female Chicago police officer, according to a report from ABC-7-Chicago. The ABC report also cites a source who says Jones is the officer's husband.
