No One Found Inside Englewood Home That Caught Fire

Initial reports of a person trapped inside a home at 72nd and Emerald Thursday morning were unfounded.

CHICAGO, IL - Fire crews who battled a blaze in the 7200 block of South Emerald Avenue in the city's Englewood neighborhood Thursday morning did not find anyone in the building after originally sharing a report that a person was trapped inside.

The Chicago Fire Department responded to the fire, which caused significant damage to a home on the block around 5 a.m., after a "still and box" alarm, the department wrote on Twitter.

No one was found during a thorough search of the building, with no injuries to civilians or firefighters reported.
