Shot Fired At State Cops After Chase On Dan Ryan, Bishop Ford

A homicide suspect remains on the run after fleeing from Illinois State Police on foot after crashing into a pole at 127th and Parnell.

CHICAGO, IL - A man who is a suspect in a homicide in west suburban Maywood remains on the run after crashing a car in a police chase and firing a shot at Illinois State Police officers who were chasing him on foot in the city's West Pullman neighborhood early Tuesday morning. Media reports indicate authorities have reopened a search for the driver of the fleeing car after sunrise.

The suspect briefly pulled over at 127th Street and I-57 at 12:05 a.m. before fleeing, according to a report from the Chicago Tribune. State troopers first spotted the car headed southbound at 79th Street and the Dan Ryan Expressway.

The car involved in the chase, which according to WGN ended when it crashed into a utility pole at 127th and Parnell, is wanted in connection to a Monday homicide in Maywood. The driver is wanted for questioning in the homicide.

After the crash, reports from both WGN and the Tribune indicate he led police on a foot chase and fired one shot at them, which missed. Police did not fire back.

The fugitive, whose description was not listed in either report, is still on the run as of 9 a.m.
