Suburban Cop Shot At In Englewood, 3 In Custody
An off-duty Robbins police officer returned fire at three men who shot at him near 73rd and Halsted Tuesday morning.

CHICAGO, IL - An off-duty south suburban police officer was shot at on the South Side Tuesday morning. Several Chicago police units responded to the 7300 block of South Halsted just before noon, according to a Chicago police media notification. It is not believed that the police officer, a public servant in Robbins, was hit by any of the gunfire.
The off-duty officer also returned fire on the multiple suspects involved, according to police, but was not able to hit any of them.
A live video captured from the scene appears to show two men in custody. Police later confirmed there are three suspects in custody and one weapon was recovered from the scene.

The shooting incident occurred just an hour after police were holding a press conference to discuss the removal of the 1,000th gun from the streets in the city's 6th District, which includes the Englewood neighborhood where the shooting took place. The conference was held just five blocks south of the shooting location.
