Burglar Also Targeted Geneva Homes: Authorities

The Cortland man has been charged in connection with home burglaries in South Elgin, St. Charles, Batavia, and Geneva.

GENEVA, IL -- A 20-year-old Cortland man recently arrested for attempting to burglarize homes in Batavia also faces charges for home burglaries in St. Charles, Geneva and South Elgin. Christian M. Corson, 20, was taken into custody on Aug. 6 after authorities believe they caught him allegedly trying to break into a home in the 400 block of Webster Street in Batavia, the Daily Herald reports. Batavia police also linked him to an incident at a home in the 900 block of Forest Ave. in Batavia, which occurred on the morning of August 2.

Corson is accused of using a knife to slice the screen to a downstairs window and gain entry to that home. Police believe his intent was to commit a theft.

During the course of their investigation, authorities also learned Corson allegedly committed burglaries in the 500 block of Longmeadow Circle in St. Charles on July 24, in the 1500 block of Williams Avenue on July 25 and in the 1500 block of Ronzheimer Street in St. Charles on Aug. 1. He is also accused of burglarizing homes in Geneva on July 22, a home in South Elgin on July 28 and another in St. Charles, near the Kane County Sheriff's Office, on May 10, the Daily Herald reports.

Corson, of the 100 block of East Lark Avenue in Cortland, remained in custody at the Kane County Adult Justice Center on a $725,000 bail as of Monday afternoon, according to online jail records. He faces residential burglary and armed violence charges and is next expected in court on Aug. 16.
