Car Careens Into Retention Pond, Neighbor Comes to Rescue of Victim Stuck In Vehicle
Two people were taken to a local hospital following the crash into a retention pond in St. Charles Monday morning.

ST. CHARLES, IL - A neighbor came to the rescue of a person who became trapped in their vehicle after it went into a retention pond in St. Charles on Monday morning, fire officials said.
The St. Charles Fire Department was called to 3726 St. Germain Place in St. Charles at 7:06 a.m. for a report of car that had gone into the retention pond. Initial reports indicated there were two victims with one person still trapped in the vehicle.
Before rescue crews arrived on scene, they learned both occupants had exited the vehicle and were on shore, according to a city of St. Charles press release. A neighbor who had been advised that the vehicle was in the water jumped into the pond and was able to guide one of the victims to shore and assisted the other out of the car.

Paramedics treated and transported both residents to Delnor Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, fire officials said.
Fire department divers assisted with removing the car from the pond. The St. Charles Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into the accident.
