Fast Facts: The Upstate Eight River co-champions face off for the Class 4A Geneva Regional championship. They split in the regular season. It has been a renaissance year for Geneva, who has the second most wins in school history, trailing only the 1962-63 team. They have more size than most teams in the Chicago area, as the Fuzak brothers (who transferred from Wheaton Academy before the season); Landi, Navigato and Vollbrecht come in between 6-foot-7 and 6-foot-10. Navigato is the centerpiece, averaging 19 points per game and heading to Buffalo in the fall. He also leads the team in assists (66) and steals (52). Vollbrecht averages 10.8 points per game with 176 rebounds and 24 blocks. Temple missed the first half of the season with a football injury but has made a big impact since. St. Charles East stands in contrast to the Vikings, focusing mostly on its backcourt. Gentry is the star, averaging 18 points per game, while weighing low-level Division I offers. Vyzral (10 PPG) and Bronec will have their hands full down low. Asquini, Gentry, Vyzral and Jacob Clodi off the bench can all fill it from three-point range.
