ST. CHARLES, IL - The St. Charles District 303 School Board will meet Monday to decide its next steps on how to improve its middle schools.
Three public forums were held in recent weeks where 360 people attended with the majority clearly voting against the cheapest option on the table, which is a $15 million proposal that would pay for a new wing at Thompson Middle School and result in $2.5 million in savings through the closure of Haines Middle School, the Daily Herald reports.

The vote on the two remaining options was nearly split during the forums. Those options include a $35 million proposal to rebuild Thompson and a $55 million proposal to tear down Thompson and rebuild with all new amenities, according to the article.
The board will meet Monday evening in a special meeting to review presentations made at a District 303 forum (the video from the forum can be viewed here) and to discuss next steps. Rod Wright, president of UNICOM-ARC, will discuss options for the Board regarding its middle school facilities. The three forums were held on April 14 at Thompson, April 18 at Haines Middle School and on Thursday at Wredling Middle School
