Driver Killed in Crash After Colliding With Tree: Police

A 55-year-old Bartlett man is dead following the Sunday afternoon crash.

A 55-year-old Bartlett man was killed in a single-vehicle crash after colliding with a tree in Elgin Sunday afternoon.

The man was driving his 2010 Buick Enclave east on Higgins Road just west of Randall Road when the vehicle crossed the median and struck a tree at about 4:49 p.m. on Sunday, according to a Elgin Police Department press release.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle. He was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital where he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man’s name is not being released as police notify his relatives. The Kane County coroner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Randall Road and Higgins Road were closed following the crash.
