The St. Charles Singers, directed by its founder Jeffrey Hunt, will launch its 28th concert season with “Candlelight Carols.”
The Christmas program of some two dozen works will include the world premieres of two new choral arrangements, by Chicago-area composers, of traditional American songs. The internationally recognized mixed-voice ensemble also will perform works by contemporary composers new to its concerts, such as Scotland’s James MacMillan and Norway’s Ola Gjeilo, in addition to more familiar fare.
