Hit-And-Run Driver Guilty In Mother's Day Collision
A 7-year-old girl was seriously injured when a truck ran into her in St. Charles Township on May 12 and then fled the area.

KANE COUNTY, IL — A St. Charles Township man accused in the hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a 7-year-old girl out riding her bike on Mother's Day could be headed to prison, prosecutors said. Brian J. Quartuccio, 42, of the 35W block of Oak Drive, pleaded guilty to failure to report an accident or injury, a Class 2 felony, and driving while license revoked, a Class 4 felony.
He now faces up to 10 years in prison when he is sentenced on Dec. 18. Kane County Judge Donald Tegeler can choose to sentence him to the more-lenient punishment of probation or between three and 10 years in prison during the December hearing, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.
At about 1 p.m. on May 12, Lexi Hanson, 7, was out riding her bike near Geneva and Courier streets in St. Charles Township when she was hit by a Dodge pickup truck, authorities said. The vehicle then fled the scene and was found abandoned a few blocks from the collision.

Quartuccio’s driver’s license was revoked at the time of the crash because of a prior DUI offense, prosecutors said. In addition, Quartuccio was serving a sentence of probation for a prior felony offense of driving while license revoked. In total, Quartuccio has four prior convictions for driving while license revoked, and two prior DUI convictions.
Quartuccio remains free on a $35,000 bond as he awaits his sentencing.
