Home Burglar Caught With Bag of Loot in Hand, Arrested in Elgin: Police
The Elgin teen was arrested outside the home he is accused of burglarizing on Friday morning.
ELGIN, IL - An 18-year-old Elgin man was caught red-handed Friday morning after police spotted him exiting a home with a bag of loot in tow after he allegedly burglarized the residence.
Hunter J. Stone, of the 1900 block of Muirfield Circle in Elgin, has been charged with residential burglary, a class 1 felony, and obstructing a police officer, a class A misdemeanor, following his Friday arrest. His bond has been set at $10,000.
Police were called to a home in the 1900 block of College Green Drive at about 10:17 a.m. after receiving a phone call from a witness who said they saw a subject rip a screen from the residence and enter the home through a window, according to an Elgin Police Department press release.

Officer set up a perimeter around the home. They saw the man coming out of the home through the front door, carrying a “bag full of proceeds,” police said.
The man was taken into custody. He initially gave police a false name but was later identified as Stone, according to the news release.

The homeowners arrived on the scene and told police no one had permission to be in their residence.
Citizens are encouraged to call the police to report suspicious persons in their neighborhood. The suspect in this case was arrested due to a call from a concerned citizen.
