Renz Center Offering Free Problem Gambling Assessments in March
Free Gambling Assessments to Promote National Problem Gambling Awareness Month at St. Charles and Elgin Locations

Elgin, IL—To promote awareness during National Problem Gambling Awareness Month, Renz Addiction Counseling Center is offering free problem gambling assessments throughout March at Renz’s Elgin and St. Charles locations. Assessments are confidential.
“Problem gambling can be a hidden addiction,” said Jim Brunetti, MA, LCPC, Director of Clinical Services. “Signs of a problem aren’t always obvious, even to the person gambling, and it can be easy to hide. Our program provides education and tools to identify triggers and can help people develop healthy coping skills to avoid gambling.”
Signs of a gambling problem can include loss of interest and participation in normal activities with friends and family, unaccounted time loss, missing possessions or assets, and changes in attitude and personality. Neglect of personal needs (such as food, hygiene, and medical care), secrecy, avoidance when discussing time and money, and depression may also be signs that someone has a gambling problem.
