No Large Coronavirus Case Spike In Kane Co. Since Phase 4 Start
State data shows Kane County has not seen a sustained spike in coronavirus cases since moving to phase 4 of the Restore Illinois plan.

KANE COUNTY, IL — More than 80 people in Kane County tested positive for the coronavirus since Friday, bringing the county’s total to 8,160 cases, according to public health data.
Statistics from the Illinois Department of Public Health indicate the county has not seen a sustained spike in coronavirus cases since Illinois moved to phase 4 of its reopening plan at the end of June.

The 7-day rolling average of daily cases — a measure that takes into account daily fluctuations in testing to show longer-term trends — has remained under 50 since June 14, the data shows.

The figure stood at 36 cases, as of Sunday, the data shows. Though that’s higher than the measure has been for more than two weeks, it’s lower than at any point between April 20 and June 18. The 7-day rolling average of daily cases reached an all-time high of 218 in mid-May.
Aurora residents account for more than 42 percent of all coronavirus cases in the county, with 3,461, the data shows. More than 400 residents in Aurora's other three counties — DuPage, Kendall and Will — have also tested positive for the coronavirus, according to the city's statistics.

More than 1,950 Elgin residents have tested positive, as well as 775 in Carpentersville, 348 in St. Charles, 219 in both North Aurora and Geneva, and 152 in Batavia, according to the state's data.

As of Saturday, 281 Kane County residents have died after testing positive for the virus, including 159 residents of long-term-care facilities, the data shows. Though they represent less than 12 percent of all coronavirus cases in Kane County, residents of long-term-care facilities account for 56.5 percent of all deaths.
