St. Charles Reschedules Fourth of July Fireworks For September
The July 4 fireworks were called off following the shootings in Highland Park that left six dead.

ST. CHARLES, IL — The city of St. Charles has rescheduled its fireworks, which were cancelled on July 4 following the tragic shooting in Highland Park, for Sept. 1.
Music and food is also planned for the evening of Sept. 1, according to the St. Charles Park District. The fireworks were originally slated to occur on July 4, but like many suburban communities, were called off after a gunman opened fire during a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, killing six people.
On the evening of July 4, park district officials announced that they'd "decided to cancel the 4th of July festivities, including the concert and firework display, out of an abundance of caution for everyone’s safety." At the time, officials said they were in talks with the fireworks vendor to reschedule the display.
