Free Production at Trinity Lutheran School

On Friday, May 8, doors will open for the community to watch Adventures of a Comic Book Artist.

Wombat Woman! What a name for a comic book super hero. You’ll find all kinds of personalities in capes as Trinity Lutheran School students perform Adventures of a Comic Book Artist.

The community is invited to see this free production in the school gym on Friday, May 8. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., production begins at 7 p.m.

“From the very first rehearsal, these students have constantly surprised me away with their talent,” said director and teacher Laura Piel. “Just when I think they’ve peaked, they surprise me and do even better at the next rehearsal! They have fun at every rehearsal, and they bring a lot of life and energy to their characters.”

From the diverse talents of the students from Dr. Shock Clock played by Joel Melidona to Wombat Woman, played by Erica Chessier to the All American Stanley Leonardo Sappovitz played by Gunnar Bettenhausen, the show will keep you wanting more.

“Some of my favorite moments are: the first one when Stanley draws four superheroes who come to life- this scene is hilariously funny,” explains director Piel. “I also like when the villain comes to life- his interactions with the artists and the owner of the comic book company are also really funny. Another highlight is the rock concert scene- all the crowd members are frozen during this scene while the villain, Dr. Shock Clock, runs amok,” Piel adds.

Vocals by Blossom, played by Senaa Debela and Viola, played by Rebekah Crane bring a melodic plus to the production.

For this group of Trinity Lutheran School students, this play was a match.

“I chose Adventures of a Comic Book Artist specifically for this group of students, because I saw how talented they were and knew this show would be the perfect fit for them,” Piel adds. “They are a fun and funny bunch, and this show fits their personalities perfectly.”
