Gun Charge For Owner Who Fired As Car Was Stolen: Tinley Police

A Tinley Park man who fired at his own car as it was stolen from in front of a Tinley gas station has been charged, police said Friday.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A Tinley Park man faces a gun charge after he fired his weapon outside a gas station as someone was stealing his car, Tinley Park Police said Friday.

Dylon Thomas, 30, has been charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, said Tinley Park Police Chief Matt Walsh. Thomas was outside a Shell gas station at 171st and Harlem Avenue on Oct. 28, when he witnessed someone in the act of stealing his car. Thomas shot at the car as the suspect drove off, police said.

The suspect abandoned the stolen car blocks away, and fled in another car, Walsh told Patch. The suspect was not found.
