• Vigil, Trivia, Butterfly Cupcakes: Crisis Center Rallies Support For Domestic Violence Awareness Month (patch.com) — Tinley Park community members are invited to support Domestic Violence Awareness Month through Crisis Center for South Suburbia events, including a trivia night at Bremen VFW and give-back nights at Portillo's and Lou Malnati's. Throughout October, matched donations, butterfly tributes, and special cupcake sales will help fund emergency shelter, housing, and counseling for survivors across the South Suburbs.
   

• Tinley Park's Dairy Palace debuts at Toronto film festival in premiere of 'Trash Mountain' (chicagotribune.com) — Tinley Park's Dairy Palace just hit the big screen as a key filming location for the movie "Trash Mountain," which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Owner Kevin Hoffmeister recalls a fun shoot, including the star buying ice cream for the entire crew. You can still visit the now internationally known stand on Oak Park Avenue daily from 2 to 10 p.m. until it closes for winter later this month, weather permitting.
