CCU Sponsor Offers Six $1,500.00 Scholarships
Applications for scholarship must be received by December 31, 2014
Vernon Hills, IL, December 2, 2014: The cost of receiving a higher education increases each year. That’s one reason Consumers Cooperative Association (CCA), the sponsor for Consumers Credit Union ($610 Million; Waukegan, IL), created its scholarship program. Every year, CCA offers local students the opportunity to earn one of six (6) $1,500.00 scholarships. The deadline to apply for this year’s scholarship opportunity is rapidly approaching: the deadline is 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2014.
The $1500.00 scholarships are available for students scheduled to graduate high school in the spring of 2015. Applicants are evaluated based on academic performance, financial need and leadership abilities, in addition to their involvement in the local community. “Scholarships are one of the ways we can support the continuing education of our high school students,” said Elizabeth Oldham, Consumers Cooperative Association President. “We know today’s students are tomorrow’s leaders; therefore, we have both a responsibility and commitment to actively support higher education for our youth.”
Applications are available at area high schools, Online at www.myconsumers.org, and at all six CCU locations. Valid applications must include the student’s official high school transcript through their junior year, a copy of their first semester grades from the current academic year and a non-returnable photograph. Students awarded scholarships will be featured in an upcoming issue of CCU’s newsletter, The Reporter. Applicants and/or their parents/guardians must also be a Member of CCU for a minimum of one (1) year. Applications must be received by December 31, 2014, to be considered.
