CCU Supports People Lending Assistance Network of Lake County

Volunteer network provides hope, food and job assistance for Lake County Families

Vernon Hills, IL, May 19, 2015: Consumers Credit Union (CCU; $676 Million, Waukegan, IL) recently donated $1,000in support of People Lending Assistance Network (PLAN), 1892 Nicole Avenue in Round Lake Beach, IL. PLAN a not-for-profit organization that provides food, clothing, appliances, education and job assistance to both individuals and families. PLAN serves primarily the central Lake County area, while relying almost exclusively on donations to fund operations and supply products and services to low-wealth and needy families.

Founded in June 2007, PLAN is entirely managed and staffed by local volunteers committed to helping others. Mike Pimpo serves as the organization’s Director and oversees day–to-day operations. Volunteers of the organization include retired military personnel, adult volunteers and local students, many from churches in the surrounding areas. PLAN provides extremely efficient services to their clients five (5) days each week; for example, PLAN is able to purchase 9 pounds of food through the Northern Illinois Food Bank with each dollar donated to the organization.

“Consumers Credit Union believes it’s our responsibility to support local organizations providing vital services to those less fortunate than ourselves,” said Sean M. Rathjen, CCU President/CEO. “PLAN serves an important role in the community, providing goods and services to local families in need of assistance. It’s encouraging to know organizations like PLAN are available to help those in need. CCU is both proud to once again support their efforts.”
