Nonprofit Selling Off Brainerd, Gym Buildings Brick by Brick

For one day, the public will have the chance to buy bricks from the recently demolished Brainerd Building and Jackson Gym.

A school district nonprofit group will be selling salvaged bricks this weekend from Libertyville’s recently demolished Brainerd Building and Jackson Gym, according to a Daily Herald report.

The one-day-only sale will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 9, at Libertyville High School, 708 W. Park Ave., the report stated. Profits from the sale will go to the Distrcit 128 Foundation, which helps school programs throughout Libertyville-Vernon Hills Area High School District 128, the report added.

The building and gym were part of the original site of Libertyville High School, and they’ve been a part of the village for nearly 100 years, being built in 1917. The buildings, which are at Route 176 and Brainerd Avenue, are being cleared away to create a sports field, a parking lot and a memorial to the original high school.
