Oriental Rug Basics: Form, Fashion, Function

Fifth Wall Rug Gallery in Lake Bluff offers class

This class deals with the 3 main rug classifications: Nomadic, Village, and City rugs. Issues that will be discussed include history, weaving process, knot counts, fiber content, dyes, identification, evaluation and valuation of authentic hand-knotted oriental rugs. The class was originally developed for Marshall Field’s Rug Galleries and the textiles class at the Harrington College of Design Textiles class headed up by Dee Nemeth in 2007.

Class meets from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 12 at the Fifth Wall Rug Gallery, 960 North Shore Drive, Lake Bluff, IL 60044.
