Vernon Hills Toy Company Files New Lawsuit Challenging Trump Tariffs

Learning Resources argues the administration's latest import taxes are unlawful.

Learning Resources, which is based in Vernon Hills, has filed a new lawsuit challenging the Trump administration's latest round of global tariffs, arguing they are an unlawful attempt to reinstate taxes previously struck down by the U.S. Supreme Court.

The lawsuit, filed Friday in the U.S. Court of International Trade alongside Connecticut flooring company HMTX Industries, targets new 10% to 12.5% tariffs imposed under Section 301 of the Trade Act of 1974, the Chicago Tribune is reporting. Company officials contend the tariffs are a tax on American businesses rather than a legitimate response to forced labor concerns cited by the administration.

Learning Resources successfully challenged an earlier round of Trump-era tariffs, leading to a landmark Supreme Court ruling earlier this year, according to the article.
