$100K Stolen From Western Springs Resident: Cops

Another theft was attempted, but failed, police report says.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — Nearly $100,000 was fraudulently transferred from a Western Springs resident's account to another, Western Springs police said.

Another transfer was attempted, but failed, police said.

The fraudulent transfer was reported Wednesday by a resident in the 4100 block of Wolf Road. The incident was labeled identity theft. Patch has filed a public records request for more information.

  • A semi-truck ran into a stop sign and a light pole while making a turn onto westbound 39th Street from Hampton Avenue about 6 p.m. Wednesday. The incident was labeled a hit-and-run crash.
  • A resident in the 4000 block of Woodland Avenue made a Zelle payment of $1,800 to a fraudulent representative of Chase Bank on Wednesday.
  • A resident in the 5400 block of Lawn Avenue told police Thursday that two housekeepers removed her wallet and jewelry from their location while in the house. The property was later recovered in a different area of the house.
  • The front bay window of a house was damaged by a BB pellet on Nov. 13 in the 5100 block of Fair Elms Avenue. Additionally, a balloon rental valued at $100 was taken without permission from the front yard.
  • A resident in the 4900 block of Central Avenue informed police Friday that unauthorized transactions were made from her Chase Bank account.
  • Eric Nunez Rodriguez, 19, of Hodgkins, was cited about 7:30 p.m. Nov. 15 at 55th Street and Grand Avenue on charges of driving with a suspended license and speeding. He was released on bond.
  • Todd A. Rapp, 58, of Schererville, Indiana, was cited about 7:30 p.m. Nov. 16 at Burlington and Grand avenues on charges of operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of marijuana by a driver, disregarding a stop sign and improper use of a phone. He was released on bond.
