Could spring happen without music? Not when you have gifted performing members of the Western Springs Music Club welcoming in the new season with beautiful classical music. The April 13th performance at the Oak Brook Public Library showcased the following talented musicians playing music from throughout the centuries:
Nancy Hagen (Oboe) and Nola Gustafson (piano) performed Andre Cardinal Destouches “Pastorale et Passepied,” Michael Head’s “Elegiac Dance for Oboe and Piano,” and Alessandro Besozzi’s “Sonata in C Major for Oboe and Piano.”
Lisa Boggess (harp) performed Kathryn Cater’s “Fox Trail,” and “Sedona Light by Laurie Riley,” Nancy Hagen (oboe) then joined Lisa and they performed “St. Basil’s Hymn-Traditional Greek.”
Alice Cummings (piano) performed Claude Debussy’s “Reverie” and Christian Sinding’s “Rustles of Spring.”
Nancy Hagen playing the piano performed Claude Debussy’s “Nocturne in D flat” and selections from Franz Joseph Haydn’s “Sonata in E flat major.”
Yesterday’s concert was a wonderful way to start a beautiful season. This concert was sponsored by The Western Springs Music Club (http://www.wsmusicclub.com).
