Western Springs Student Takes Home Third In National Spelling Bee
A McClure Junior High student has finished third in Scripps National Spelling Bee.

WESTERN SPRINGS, IL — A McClure Junior High student has finished third in Scripps National Spelling Bee. Mira Dedhia, 13, of Western Springs, spelled the word "ehretia" incorrectly, and took third place in her second Bee.

According to a post on the Bee Blog, Dedhia missed her eighth-grade graduation to compete.
“I knew I always wanted this,” she said in the post. “This has been my dream since I was young.”

Ananya Vinay of California won the Bee with the winning word of "marocain" and Rohan Rajeev from Oklahoma took home second place.
