All five Franklin Middle School submissions advanced to District and four students advanced to the Region and State. (Lucy Porick (photography), Noah Cho (visual arts), Beatrice Nelson (literature), and Wren Page (music composition) will all receive recognition from the state PTA on May 7 at Millikin University. Beatrice Nelson earned a State Honorable Mention for her essay, Tyke. Wren Page’s composition for 3 cellos, Flying High, will advance to Nationals in May.
Kristen Page, the PTA Reflections Chair (and Wren’s mom) stated, “The PTA Reflections program is an excellent way for our students to express themselves creatively, and because all forms of artistic expression (ranging from dance to visual arts to musical expression) are welcomed, there is a category for every child. I love to see the beautiful ways our students express their ideas about how they might impact the world.”
