1. Wheaton To Review Proposal To Build 8 Townhomes On Roosevelt Road (patch.com) — Wheaton residents may soon see eight new three-story townhomes at 1701 E. Roosevelt Road, as the city's Planning and Zoning Commission reviews a special use permit next week. The proposal details three-bedroom units with garages and skylights on a former car dealership storage site, following earlier public input and plan revisions specific to this Roosevelt Road Corridor location.

2. Oscar Mayer Wienermobile visits Oak Park and River Forest (oakpark.com) — The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is scheduled to roll into Wheaton on Oct. 9, giving locals a chance to see the Halloween-decorated, 27-foot hotdog truck up close. After recent stops in Oak Park and River Forest, the crew will continue on to St. Charles and Wilmington, but Wheaton residents get an early look and photo opportunity this weekend.

Man found guilty of first-degree murder in fatal shooting of patron outside Wheaton-area bar (shawlocal.com) — A jury has found former Aurora resident Michael Freund guilty of first-degree murder for fatally shooting Dexter Perkins outside Rosie O'Reilly's, a bar near Wheaton, after a dispute over pizza and a bar tab in December 2023. DuPage County prosecutors say Freund fired nine shots, and he now awaits a November 9 court date for sentencing-related proceedings.

4. Geneva football offense complemented by dominant defense in 42-14 win over Wheaton North (shawlocal.com) — Wheaton North's football team fell 42-14 to Geneva on Friday, dropping the Falcons to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in DuKane Conference play. Geneva's powerful offense and much-improved defense limited Wheaton North's ground game, though Falcons quarterbacks Grant Neibch and Rory Burke each connected for touchdown passes to keep the team competitive.
