DuPage County Coronavirus Update: 4,082 Cases, 217 Deaths

DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — As of Wednesday, DuPage County reports 4,082 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus and 217 deaths. The numbers include 160 new cases since Tuesday. County officials say the number of positive cases is "likely much higher" due to cases that are "unreported or untested."

County officials said 11 coronavirus-related deaths were reported since Tuesday. They are:

  • A woman in her 60s with underlying conditions who was living in DuPage County
  • A woman in her 80s with underlying conditions who was living in DuPage County
  • A man in his 90s with underlying conditions who was living in DuPage County
  • A woman in her 70s with underlying conditions who was living in a long-term care facility in Elmhurst
  • A woman in her 70s with underlying conditions who was living in a long-term care facility in Hinsdale
  • A woman in her 70s with underlying conditions who was living in a long-term care facility in Elmhurst
  • A woman in her 80s with underlying conditions who was living in a long-term care facility in Oak Brook
  • A woman in her 90s with underlying conditions who was living in a long-term care facility in Elmhurst
  • A man in his 80s with underlying conditions who was living in a long-term care facility in Downers Grove
  • A woman in his 80s with underlying conditions who was living in a long-term care facility in Itasca
  • A man in his 90s with underlying conditions who was living in a long-term care facility in Naperville

The news comes as cases in Illinois reach 68,232. The statewide death toll from coronavirus was at 2,974 as of Wednesday, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The DuPage County Coroner's Office directed Patch to the DuPage County Health Department for a breakdown of deaths by city, but the health department said it is not releasing that information as of press time.
According to the county's breakdown, the majority of cases have affected those between the ages of 40 and 70, but all age ranges had confirmed cases. Here is the breakdown as of Wednesday evening.

  • 0-9 years old: 40
  • 10-19 years old: 99
  • 20-29 years old: 522
  • 30-39 years old: 607
  • 40-49 years old: 688
  • 50-59 years old: 716
  • 60-69 years old: 586
  • 70-79 years old: 349
  • 80 years old and older: 475
