DuPage County Hits 'Warning Level' For Coronavirus Transmission
The county was among 30 to reach a warning level for coronavirus transmission, according to Illinois Department of Public Health.
DUPAGE COUNTY, IL — As of Friday, DuPage County was among 30 Illinois counties that reached a "warning level" for new coronavirus cases, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). A county is placed at warning level when it reaches two or more indicators that the risk of coronavirus transmission has increased.

- Henderson
- Jackson
- Jasper
- Jersey
- Lawrence
- Madison
- McLean
- Monroe
- Morgan
- Pulaski
- Schuyler
- Shelby
- Stark
- St. Clair
- Tazewell
- Vermilion
- Washington
- Williamson
According to IDPH metrics from Aug. 30 through Sept. 5, DuPage County had 89 coronavirus cases per 100,000 residents, with a total of six deaths in that timeframe. Those metrics placed the county at warning level.

IDPH reports that 20,717 coronavirus tests were performed in DuPage County, with a positivity rate of 4.8 percent. Emergency room visits for coronavirus-like symptoms was at 2.6 percent.
In the IDPH update, public health officials said some counties were observed not properly practicing social distancing and mask wearing. They also attributed the increase in cases to "college parties, weddings, large gatherings, bars and clubs, long-term care facilities and other congregate settings," in addition to travel to nearby states.
