DuPage County Stormwater director wins national award

Sarah Hunn was recently named Government Civil Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

DuPage County Director of Stormwater Management Sarah Hunn was recently named Government Civil Engineer of the Year by the American Society of Civil Engineers. The award recognizes professional accomplishments and unique contributions to the civil engineering profession or community.

“DuPage County has professional, hard-working staff that are second to none. It’s wonderful to see Sarah receive this recognition for everything she does for this county,” said Stormwater Management Committee Chairman Jim Zay.

During Hunn’s 17 years with DuPage County, she has overseen the construction or modification of eight of the County’s 17 flood control facilities and managed nearly $50 million in grant funds for capital projects.

Hunn was previously awarded the Young Government Engineer of the Year award, making her one of only a few engineers to receive both awards.
