Chris Rice, Co-Director of the Center for Reconciliation at Duke Divinity School, delivers a lecture titled "Mission, Justice and Holiness: A Crossroads in Christian History."
Drawing on his work with reconciliation and peacemaking in the United States and abroad, Chris Rice will discuss the surprising, beautiful work of transformation that may escape our notice while we pursue "big things" for God.
From 1983 to 2000, Rice lived and worked in an inner-city neighborhood in Jackson, Mississippi with Voice of Calvary, an interracial church working to rebuild lives in the community. In 2002, Rice published Grace Matters, a memoir about his life living in Mississippi, which was chosen by Publishers Weekly as one of the "Best Religion Books of 2002.”
This event is sponsored by Wheaton College's Center for Applied Christian Ethics (CACE). It is free and open to the public and takes place in room 339 of Blanchard Hall. For more information, call the CACE office.
Chris Rice will also be presenting a lecture titled, "The Pilgrimage to Transformation: Tasting the Mysteries of God in a Divided World" at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, November 1.
