Lecture By L. Edward Phillips

The Wheaton Center for Early Christian Studies at Wheaton College presents a lecture by L. Edward Phillips titled “With all the Company of Heaven: Eucharist and Cosmic Powers in Early Christian Worship.”

Dr. L. Edward Phillips is associate professor of worship and liturgical theology at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. His area of research includes the practical and pastoral aspects of the historical church and the development of Christian theology and practice for the present. He is editor-in-chief of the journal Liturgy. He is currently working on a book on the development of contemporary patterns of worship in the United States.

The Papatheofanis Lectures were established to promote the integration of the study of early Christianity and the life of the Church. Made possible by Dr. Frank and Dr. Julie Papatheofanis '86, the lectures invite distinguished scholars in the fields of Patristics and early Christian studies to contribute to the advancement of theological and historical thought.

The free lecture takes place in room 339 of Blanchard Hall.
