The newly opened Chick-fil-A franchise in suburban Wheaton is launching a charitable initiative with Living Water International called Chick-fil-A Plus $One. Starting on September 12 Chick-fil-A customers can give donations in store at a point of purchase drop box.
“Every day water-related diseases claim the lives of 5,000 children under the age of five. That’s roughly one every 15 seconds,” said Dave Terhune, owner of the Wheaton Chick-fil-A. “We wanted to do something to get our community involved and make a difference to children and families in need. We are going to continue to raise funds until we have enough to build a well in Central America”
Terhune and his employees have a goal to raise $5,000, which would be enough to build a new water-well in Central America. Terhune and the Chick-fil-A employees are collectively deciding the exact location of the well (El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras or Nicaragua) during a fundraiser rally on September 11. Donations for Living Water will be accepted at the Wheaton location at 301 E Loop Rd beginning September 12.
