While the couple lived in Wheaton in 2014, Lyuba had an order of protection taken out against her husband, according Fox 9. The DuPage County order of protection detailed incidents that occurred in August 2014 where Lyuba said her husband hit her during sex, wrestled and hit her repeatedly and pulled her up by her hair.

The early morning car drive from Wheaton to Eden Prairie on May 14 is when Savenok told police thought of murdering his wife, according to the Daily Herald. He said their marriage was crumbling.

Lyuba, who was pregnant with a third child, a boy, was remembered as an amazing mother, “a dear daughter to her parents, an amazing sister to her siblings and a faithful friend to many,” according to a GoFundMePage set up to cover expenses for her funeral. The donations, which have reached $82,000 as of Sept. 22, will also help with costs to raise her two children, Matthew, 4, and Vivienne, 3.

A Facebook post and a video just a week before her death showed Savenok and their two children all together at her son's school, watching as he took part in a song.

Savonek remained in custody at the Hennepin County Jail on a $6,000 million bond, according to online jail records.
