The protest will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Wheaton officials said.

WHEATON, IL — A protest to the death of George Floyd will be held near Memorial Park in Wheaton Wednesday, Wheaton officials said in an update. The rally, which officials say has been billed as a "peaceful protest," will kick off at 1 p.m.
Members of the Wheaton Police Department will be present at the protest to ensure public safety. "We expect this will be a peaceful gathering, and we respect the right of people to assemble peacefully, but we remind attendees that violent, criminal acts will not be tolerated," Wheaton officials said.
Some stores in downtown Wheaton were adjusting their hours to accommodate the protest or as a precautionary measure Wednesday and Thursday. Stores were expected to resume regular hours Friday, according to the Downtown Wheaton Association. Residents are advised to call ahead before heading to a store or restaurant.
