Kids Heart Challenge at Jefferson Early Childhood

On Wednesday our Wellness Committee at Jefferson Early Childhood kicked off the Kids Heart Challenge in partnership with the AHA.

On Wednesday, February 12, our Wellness Committee at Jefferson Early Childhood kicked off the Kids Heart Challenge in partnership with the American Heart Association. This committee consists of Ms. Terri Donahue, Ms. Abby Wright, Ms. Barb Beach, Ms. Cathy Maurer, Ms. Meghan Beatty, Ms. Nancy Swanson, Ms. Sara Kud, Ms. Liz Taylor, Ms. Bea McGuire, and Mrs. Kim Grimes. The American Heart Association designed a variety of activities during this challenge beginning with a group dance along. The idea of a dance challenge was a fun activity to include for our early childhood students; however, the provided dance examples were challenging for our student population. Mrs. Grimes brought the idea of creating an age-appropriate dance to her high school daughter, Emily, and her dance team coach. The team was excited to help and provided a dance routine on video for the event. Following the group dance along, classes participated in parachute games and an obstacle course. All activities provided modifications based on student needs to include all students in the Kids Heart Challenge.

The Wheaton Warrenville Education Association (WWEA) would like to thank our Wellness Committee at Jefferson for providing opportunities that integrate wellness into our schools. Thank you to the high school students for participating in the preparation for the event. We are lucky to have all of you!
