Chicago Sinfonietta

Thursday, August 4, 7:30 pm

Maestro Mei-Ann Chen and the innovative Sinfonietta will cap off the park’s all-day McCormick Day celebration. The first half of this special evening of music will be pure Americana featuring Charles Ives’ “Variations on America” and selections from Aaron Copland. After a brief intermission, the Sinfonietta will welcome members of the Mosaic Choir from Waubonsie Valley High School in Aurora. Selections will include Alexander Borodin’s Polovtsian Dances followed by the evening’s grand finale, Tchaikovsky's ever-popular “1812 Overture.” This concert is Cantigny’s gift to the community in honor of the park’s benefactor, Robert R. McCormick. No tickets are needed and parking also is complimentary.

Additional concert details are posted online at Cantigny.org. Symphony Passports for the June 25 and July 23 performances may be purchased on the website, by phone at 630.260.8162 or on site in the Cantigny Shop.

Cantigny Park’s symphony concerts are “Ravinia-style,” performed under the oaks outside the First Division Museum. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for lawn seating. Picnics are welcome.
